Celebrating The Win
Just a couple weeks ago I talked about Overcoming Success Amnesia so I want to practice what I preach by celebrating a couple wins from last week’s launch.
First off, I became a #1 Amazon bestseller in several of my book categories, which I didn’t even know was possible with preorders!
It was pretty wild seeing my book next to some other incredible books like How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis and ADHD 2.0 by Hallowell & Ratey.
I also ranked as a #1 Kobo bestseller as well. 🤯 I just had no idea what to expect, especially just from launching the preorders.
Can’t wait to see what happens launch week. 😅 (September 19th!)
This all thanks to everyone that preordered the book, thank you so much! I am SO EXCITED for people to finally get to read this. I truly think this book is going to change lives.
I know it’s what I wish I had read many years ago. Something to help me better understand my brain and to know why I always felt a bit different but couldn’t explain it. And how to stop trying to force my brain to use strategies that weren’t designed for my type of brain.
If you’ve enjoyed this newsletter, you’ll love this book! 💙
I know this newsletter was all about the book launch (what can I say, I am VERY EXCITED that it’s finally coming out!), but I wanted to give you something additionally useful to take away, so here is a strategy from the Motivation Strategy Guide included in the book:
Strategy: Mode Shifting
Sometimes you will get stuck on a problem and nothing you do seems to work. You’re just stuck.
When this happens, don’t force yourself to stay focused and keep working. Take a break and engage in a new activity that’s completely different.
Go take a walk, or maybe try playing a musical instrument. Can you juggle? Then juggle! You’re looking for something that’s going to engage a different part of your brain and help you shift into a different mode.
When you return to the troublesome task, it may feel fresh, or perhaps even novel.
Pay attention to when your brain gets stuck and your efforts seem to be a waste of time. Shift into a different type of activity to help reset.
Stay focused,
Jesse J. Anderson

Updates from the community this week:
The hidden burden of undiagnosed ADHD is constantly needing to invent excuses in an attempt to explain or justify behavior that you don’t even understand yourself.

Asking me to estimate how long something will take is like asking me to guess how many gumballs are in the jar, but I can’t see the jar.
